“Heilige Schutzengel (Guardian Angel) by Hans Zatzka Zabateri 1859-1945, Austria, attributed to Lindberg. The Guardian Angel image became very famous when art prints were published in the USA under the artist name of Lindberg or Lindbergh. No one knows Lindberg's first name and it seems to be the only painting for which he or she is known. It's more likely that Lindberg was merely involved with creating the lithograph templates, because Hans Zabateri/Zatzka is widely known as the original artist and it is consistent with his art style.”

This project is about the valley I grew up in. It’s focused on our human perception of death in the natural world and the ways we attempt to interrupt: road kill, roadside memorials, extreme empathy, and psychotic detachment.

The largest single wildfire in California history decimated a large swath of mine and these animals’ homes. They were forced down the mountain because of the fire, only to die at the hands of a motorist.
